How to cancel Google Play subscriptions on Android

Subscriptions billed through Google Play show up on your statement as GOOGLE followed by the app name. They are cancelled in the Play app, not on the app’s own site. Steps are as of October 2026. Menus move, so if one has, search the service’s help center for “cancel”; the current steps are usually near the top.

Steps to cancel Google Play subscriptions

  1. Open the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  2. Tap the subscription, then “Cancel subscription”, and confirm.
  3. On a computer: play.google.com, then Subscriptions in the left menu.

What happens after you cancel

Charges show as GOOGLE *name on statements. Access runs until the end of the period.

If the charge shows up again

Screenshot the confirmation page or keep the confirmation email. That is your proof. Check your next statement, and if the charge is still there, reply to the confirmation email first. If that goes nowhere, dispute the charge with your card issuer and attach the screenshot.

Not sure what else you are paying for?

Cancelling one subscription is a good start. It is easy to keep paying for a few you have stopped noticing. The free MoneyWarden quiz takes about three minutes and shows where your money is likely leaking. No bank login, no card needed. Take the free quiz.
