A month of transactions in one file is the quickest way to see every recurring charge in one place. Every major US bank lets you download it as a CSV file, which opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. You download the file from your own bank; nothing connects to your account. One month at a time is plenty. Steps are as of October 2026.
Where the download button is, bank by bank
Chase
Sign in on the website, open the account, choose “Download account activity” (the arrow icon above the transaction list), pick the date range and “CSV”.
Bank of America
Sign in, open the account, choose “Download” above the activity list, pick the date range and the “Microsoft Excel (CSV)” format.
Wells Fargo
Sign in, open the account, choose “Download Account Activity” (under the account menu), pick the dates and “Comma Delimited (CSV)”.
Citi
Sign in, open the account, choose “Download transactions” (the download icon), pick the range and “CSV”.
Capital One
Sign in, open the account, choose “Download Transactions” above the list, pick the range and “CSV”.
U.S. Bank
Sign in, open the account, choose “Download transactions” from the activity page, pick the range and “CSV”.
American Express
Sign in, open “Statements & Activity”, choose “Download” (top right), pick the range and “CSV”.
Discover
Sign in, open “Activity & Statements”, choose “Download Transactions”, pick the range and “CSV”.
Credit unions and others
Look for “Download”, “Export” or a small arrow icon on the account activity page. Pick CSV (sometimes called “Excel” or “comma separated”). If only PDF is offered, open it and see the note below.
Check the file once
Open it before you use it. If it has a header row like Date, Description, Amount, it’s right. If your bank only offers PDF, open it and copy the transaction lines into a spreadsheet instead.
MoneyWarden members can upload the file on their members page, where account and card numbers are removed in the browser before anything is sent.
