How to cancel Microsoft 365

Microsoft 365 can be cancelled from your Microsoft account page, or you can turn off recurring billing and let the current period run out. Steps are as of October 2026. Menus move, so if one has, search the service’s help center for “cancel”; the current steps are usually near the top.

First, check who bills you

Look at the charge on your statement. If it says Apple, Google Play, Amazon or PayPal, the subscription is managed there, not on the service’s own site, and the cancel button on the service’s site will not be there. See cancelling Apple subscriptions or cancelling Google Play subscriptions for those. Can’t tell? Search your email for the company name plus “receipt”. The receipt names the biller.

Steps to cancel Microsoft 365

  1. Sign in at account.microsoft.com/services, find Microsoft 365, then “Manage”, then “Cancel subscription”, and confirm.
  2. If you only want to stop renewing, “Turn off recurring billing” on the same page keeps the current period.

What happens after you cancel

Files in OneDrive stay available to read after the storage drops; you may need to clear space to add more.

If the charge shows up again

Screenshot the confirmation page or keep the confirmation email. That is your proof. Check your next statement, and if the charge is still there, reply to the confirmation email first. If that goes nowhere, dispute the charge with your card issuer and attach the screenshot.
